The line-up

  1. 1

    Seiko SKX007

    9/10 · Beyond thunderdome · Gethin's own

My first watch, from 2015: never serviced, still keeping impeccable time, on a Strapcode Oyster that's the best upgrade for it, and I like it just as much as my most expensive offerings.

  2. 2

    Seiko SRP773 Turtle

    7/10 · For the beeeech · Gethin's own

The 2015 reissue, back on its factory bracelet for the first time since I bought it and I quite like it; scratched up, running 30 seconds fast and badly in need of a service, but these old-school ones are the best.

  3. 3

Orient Saturation Diver Professional 300m (OSD)

    9/10 · Beyond thunderdome · Gethin's own

Bought used, pretty much unworn, for GBP 700 on eBay: a gigantor at 16.6mm thick, a flopper, the bezel sticks and the winding's dodgy, but I love it and I'll never sell it.

  4. 4

    Seiko SARB035

    8/10 · For the beeeech · Gethin's own

GBP 236 new, from when Seiko were still good value: a poor man's Day-Date with case finishing that's something else, on an Uncle Seiko President; it needs a service but I'll keep it forever.

  5. 5

    Helson Shark Diver 42 mm

    8/10 · For the beeeech · Gethin's own

I'm not a micro brand fan, but I've always loved this one because it's not trying to be anything else: a heavy, chunky piece with a lovely H-link bracelet and 500m of water resistance, bought in 2017.

  6. 6

Seiko Presage SRPB46 'Manhattan' Cocktail Time

8/10 · For the beeeech · Gethin's own (gift from their partner)

A gift from my partner: the dial is just something else, it looks expensive even though it isn't, and it's on my wrist whenever I need to look smart.

  7. 7

    Orient Multi Year Calendar FEU0A003BH

8/10 · For the beeeech · Gethin's own (gift from Mr Jun)

A 40th birthday present from Mr Jun: very noisy, but a real classic for a very reasonable price that will put some of your more expensive watches to shame for accuracy.

  8. 8

    Doxa Sub 300T Professional

    8/10 · For the beeeech · Gethin's own (gift)

A gift: the classic orange dial, an exceptional Beads of Rice bracelet and a fantastic bezel with no back play, and quite an expensive one, so I try to look after it.

  9. 9

    Seiko SLA023 Marinemaster 300

    9/10 · Beyond thunderdome · Gethin's own

My ultimate grail, GBP 2,500: the king of the hill for Seiko, a bezel even better than the Doxa's and the best handset in the history of the watch game.

  10. 10

    Doxa Sub 1500T Searambler

    9/10 · Beyond thunderdome · Gethin's own (gift)

A ridiculously great Christmas gift I'd wanted for years: big, it flops, but very comfortable and running plus two since I've had it; a beast.
