Cushion case, plain dial, rubbish bezel: my old-school Turtle, now living with Mr Jun
Back to the old school
The Seiko Turtle SRP773, the reissue of the original Turtle. One of my first twerps: December 2015, a few months after the SKX, when I'd caught the bug and these had just come out. 4R36, day-date, 200 metres. Big cushion case, flat, very comfortable and extremely wearable to everyone. Highly recommended. I don't know about these fancy new Save the Oceans and all the other silly ones. These old-school ones are the best. Just flat dials, plain, lovely.
Listen to that bezel
He normally lived on a case-fitted Crafter Blue. Not cheap, about 60 quid, but very good, even if you can't lay it flat to show it off. Then I put him back on the factory bracelet for the first time since I bought him. Not the best bracelet in the world, but after all these years I really quite like it.
The bezel, though. Listen to it. Quite poor. He's an old, old watch, all scratched up, and the timekeeping has wandered: about 30 seconds fast at the end of 2022, minus 35 a day by Easter 2023, booked in for a trip to Poland with Mr Jun for an MOT and full service. I still like him. A great servant to me. A great watch.
My old watch
Now he belongs to Mr Jun, because I sold him to him. He's on a Strapcode Engineer, which is a lovely touch. Still very nice, bros.
