The dial is mental: a pink-gold Cocktail Time from the kings of dials
Cocktail time
Next up in the dress watch bonanza, the Seiko SRPB46J, the Manhattan. It's a Cocktail Time, and it needs no introduction. Look at that dial. Look what it does with the light, and in daylight it's even better. Rose gold plated, 40 mm, 12 mm thick under a massively boxed Hardlex crystal. Sapphire would probably have cost another few hundred quid. 4R35 inside, 23 jewels, hacks and hand-winds, gold rotor behind the display back, signed onion crown.
The kings of dials
The case is simple, all polished, not much to it. But the dial is mental. Delicious, sumptuous. Seiko have their flaws, but they are the kings of dials across the price points. And the calfskin strap with the milled deployant is actually a good strap from Seiko: very soft, smells great. Seiko always fit their straps the wrong way round, though, so I turned it around.
Verdict
£420 new, and you can pick them up used for a great price. Special occasions only for me: weddings and funerals. I wish I had a reason to wear it more often. Just a great watch, for the beeeech.
