Six Seiko 5 GMTs, one box of Steve's depravity: friction bezels, idiotic cyclopses, and a Silver Cloud for the beach

Seiko Steve has bought every SSK GMT going, so I've emptied his box onto the cushion. I don't really like GMTs. But if you want a fully in-house GMT from a heritage brand for under £400, here they all are: the Blueberry, two Black Grapes, the Sprite, the Silver Cloud and two limited editions.

I go through each one on the beef wagon, then do the specs breakdown, then read out Steve's sentiment for all the haters, then a quick loom shot.

The verdict

My picks are the Sprite and the Silver Cloud, and the Silver Cloud is my favourite. I'm not a GMT guy and I'll stick to my behemoths, but for less than £400 they're all radical, and the loom beats any of my Doxas.

Very eye-catching, probably one of the best sellers, and selling new for 260 to 350: no one else does a mechanical GMT near that price.

My favourite of them all, and Steve's: silvery sunburst dial, blue GMT hand, bezel pretty much spot on.
