Uncle Seiko President: looks like a Rolex, isn't one, and the clasp should be thrown in the sea
I have finally purchased something
Welcome back, bros. It's been a long spell of absence, but I have finally purchased something to spice up the SARB: an Uncle Seiko President bracelet. She's been sitting on a nylon NATO for the last two years, maybe three. We have finally done it. And I think you'll find it's quite wonderful, and it reinvigorates this watch in a way that is incomparable.
Came in a little plastic bag, with an Uncle Seiko sticker, no less. Extremely high quality. Not for the faint of heart. It is top of the notch.
Solid links, bros
Look at it. Oh, solid links. Brushed centres, high-polish flanks, push pins. Extremely high quality, and quite fantastic. It looks like a Rolex. It's not, but it looks like one. Look at the state of it. And there's the 6R15 underneath, beating away quite nicely.
The worst part of this strap
Look at the options: six micro adjusts. I've left the plastic on, much to the disillusionment of Mr Jun, and I will not remove it. That's not a scratch, it's just plastic.
But this. The clasp. A stamped piece of metal. Get rid of it immediately. There is no double deployment, it is pure press fit with the fold-over clasp. For 60 pounds I am not impressed, not at all impressed by the state of it. For 60 pounds I would have liked something made properly. It's been done quite nicely, there's some etching on it, so nonetheless, not too shabby. But that clasp.
Verdict
If you're looking to upgrade your SARB, 033, 035, 037, 038, whichever one you have, you can't go wrong with this. Of course, everything isn't quite as it should be. At the end of the day, we can't afford things that are as they should be. That's all I can say. Uncle Seiko's got you covered: Jubilees, Presidents, rubber straps. Stay freaky, stay nutty, bros.
