Seiko QHL091Y: 36 quid of Olympic-sounding Marathon alarm, and I can't recommend it enough

Quenching the twerp pain

For the beach, and welcome back. Sunday afternoon in my kitchen, a lovely Indonesian beef stew bubbling away, and I haven't uploaded much for a while. I had to buy something to quench my twerp pain, and we love Seiko, so I could afford this. Two of them, actually: one for me and one for Mr Jun. I'd wanted a Seiko Marathon alarm for some time, but the original one I never quite liked, with its metal legs sticking out and everything. This is the updated one, released quite recently: the QHL091Y.

Brooklyn, 36 quid and Nina

You can't even buy it anywhere. The only place I could find selling it was Worn & Wound's windup watch shop in Brooklyn, New York. Lovely people. 36 quid, I think it was, plus £4 delivery from America. There was a bit of a miscommunication: I bought two and they sent me only one. But to their credit they acknowledged the mistake immediately and posted the second one out. Lovely lady called Nina. I can highly recommend them.

On your marks

Three alarm sounds, all Olympics related. The box says the 100 m dash, the long jump and the last lap bell; one sounds like a high jump to me. Pretty cool. Seiko does timing and measurement for sporting events, after all. You get an Illuminator, a stopwatch, a snooze, a countdown timer, a calendar, and 12 or 24 hours. Two AA batteries, supplied. A lovely sort of triangular shape. Simple little thing, but look how lovely that is. It's really been put together well. Absolutely proper.

Verdict

There's not much to say about it. It's an alarm clock. It's really lovely. I absolutely love it, it's just brilliant. A lovely addition to Gethin's house for quite an inexpensive price, and you know we love Seiko here. I can highly recommend this clock. I can't recommend it enough. Please enjoy my Seiko clock, for the beach. Never give up.
