Cape Cod cloths: six pound fifty of sweet-smelling pink idiots that bring a destroyed twerp back to life
Something a bit different tonight
I always say it's something a bit different. Tonight it actually is. Cape Cod polishing cloths, for our lower-tier twerps and their polished surfaces. Soft, moistened cloths with a pleasant fragrance. Can we make a difference with this well-known product? I hope so. I really do.
You get two pieces, about six pound fifty on Amazon. The pack says it'll polish silver, copper, pewter, brass, bronze, nickel, aluminium, or aluminum to my American friends, chrome and stainless. Anti-tarnish formula, the shine lasts longer, made in the USA. I've used these for years on my old copper vape mods, but I'd never thought about using them to polish a twerp. Until now.
Test subject one: the Turtle
First one I did was the watch I'd worry about the least: the Turtle. I've had it about ten years and it was in a completely destroyed state. It has come up exceptionally well. It won't remove any deep scratching, but the marring and scuffing has come off quite well, and the shine and lustre it's added is extremely satisfying to me. I hope it will be to you.
Test subject two: the OSD
Then my OSD 300 metre Pro. Had it since 2015. Bought it in great condition, before I knew how to look after twerps, and I absolutely destroyed it. The caseback was dreadful, frightful, an absolute beastly thing to behold. After about ten minutes of rubbing, then a go with a microfibre towel, betwixt thick and thin, it has come up a treat. It's not brand new, but I've been very pleased with it. I wish I'd had a before and after for this one.
Don't be an idiot with it
Rules. You can't use this on any brushed surface, because you will remove the brushing. Please don't do that. And I wouldn't touch an expensive watch, anything Zaratsu-polished, anything Swiss, anything really expensive. But your old 7S26s, your 4Rs, your NHs, your micro brands, the cheaper twerp you've had for years and aren't going to sell? Feel free, with wanton abandon, to rub one of these sweet-smelling pink idiots all over it. Oh, it smells so good.
Verdict
I can't recommend them enough, because it has added a new lustre of life to this watch. You all probably knew already. I'm not trying to school you. But they really work. Keep them off brushed surfaces, and in the event of minor scratching and scuffing, we can be pleased to know this is not the end of the world. Stay freaky. Never give up.
